Major Shish Ram Memorial Public Secondary School makes a point of educating its learners beyond the regular curriculum. Our co-curricular activities edify them with learning in discipline, fitness, team spirit and confidence, and help them develop a well-rounded personality. The objective is to help them develop all qualities that are required to master the art of living and to be their own gurus.

Music
Music serves as an aesthetic and an audio experience. This experience basically involves the mind in an appealing way with the help of sounds. No printed communication, discussion or arithmetical calculation! It is an expression statement by itself. Music is also regarded to be an important part of the curriculum, for the role that it plays in understanding different cultures. Music is a true demonstration of traditions, community culture, aspirations and accomplishments of humankind…. for in music, are embedded various custom values and beliefs of the common man. At MAJOR SHISH RAM MEMORIAL Public School we have the Indian and Western Music studios that cater to both, choral and instrumental music from the Pre-Primary to senior wings. We also have our own Senior School Rock Band – “The Excalibur” – which performs in various school functions and inter school competitions and it has made us proud on many occasions.
Art & Crafts
Art is an important subject, not only on its own but in the rest of education as well. Experiencing and making works of art benefits students in their intellectual, personal and social development. Research studies point to strong relationships between learning in the arts and fundamental cognitive skills and capacities used to master other core subjects, including reading, writing, and mathematics. The importance of art education is for us to evaluate ourselves on how we connect with our surroundings. Art plays an important role in almost all aspects of education, from creativity to interpretation to discussion to understanding design. Our art studios are sagas by themselves. Our faculties are well equipped to unleash each child’s inherent talent. Guiding them through various techniques and helping children achieve their aspirations. Our children make beautiful craft creations from waste and recyclable materials.
Events
Besides academics MAJOR SHISH RAM MEMORIAL Public School offers many co-curricular activities to create a positive learning environment which provides students the freedom to learn, grow and to be what they ought to be. A child needs both, freedom and discipline. Freedom inspires creativity and through discipline he finds the correct expression. It is therefore necessary to balance both for personal development.
Keeping this in view the schools organizes various intra and inter- class activities and competitions. The school promotes multi dimensional activities and competitions that include – elocutions, debates, spellathon, slogan writing, creative writing, recitation, story narration, quiz, best out of waste, drawing, rangoli making, fancy dress, role play, dramatics, Indian and Western music and dance and sports.
Our school organizes an Annual Art Exhibition – “Aakriti” that exhibits the creative interpretation depicting various projects on environmental issues, science, art and performances by the music and dance groups.
Our school is visited by eminent personalities from various sections of the society such as Sports, Academics, Art, Dance and Music. Our school also organizes many cultural events in alliance with Spic Macay.
